How Many Of You
excerpt from poem
How many of you
had people all around you
and yet, you still felt so alone
so alone your heart ached
your body ached
and there was nothing
no nothing, you could do or feel.
You asked, "Why me Lord?"
Have you asked
Who am I?
What am I?
or just "Why me Lord?"
How many of you
have climbed & clawed your way
to the top of the mountain
just to lose your balance & fall.
How many of you
have strayed so far far away
or hit rock bottom
and there was only one way left to go.

"Our Greatest Fear"
Marianne Williamson
A Return to Love, 1995
(Quoted by Nelson Mandela in a speech)
Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate, but that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brillant, gorgeous,
handsome, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us. It is not just in some;
it is in everyone.
And, as we let our own light shine, we consciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
Thank you Donna Kennon for sharing this with us.
